01

Start with the customer and publication

Record the publication, delivery days and agreed start date. Check what happens when the customer changes an order or goes away. In the sample shop, inspect existing subscriptions and holidays before making a fictional change. Real customer details must stay in the shop system.

02

Check delivery and supply exceptions

An order, a delivered copy and an invoice are different records. Work through a missed delivery, a holiday stop, a supply shortage and a returned publication. Agree who can correct each record and how the correction appears in the account history.

03

Review the weekly bill before settlement

Use a fictional account to inspect the publication charges and delivery fees. Compare the billed period with the customer’s subscriptions. An adjustment should retain its reason. A bill does not establish that money was received; settlement must be recorded separately.

04

Separate cash from credit

If a customer buys on account, check the outstanding balance and the permissions used. Record later payments against the correct customer. At closing time, compare actual tenders with account movements so a credit sale does not become an unexplained cash difference.

05

Bring your awkward case to a walkthrough

Ask us to demonstrate your type of round, a holiday and a weekly account using fictional examples. Agree any migration requirements separately. The sample shop cannot contact a real customer, take payment or dispatch a supplier order.
