THE RETAIL DESK / GUIDE

Keep shelf prices and supplier files in step.

A supplier cost change and a retail price change are separate decisions. Keep a clear review between receiving a file and changing what customers pay.

01

Preserve the supplier’s original file

Keep its date, supplier identity and original headings. Check pack size, case cost and whether amounts include tax. Similar descriptions are not proof that two products are the same. Prefer verified barcodes and inspect ambiguous matches.

02

Review costs before retail prices

Receiving a new cost does not mean a new shelf price is agreed. Compare the old and new unit cost using the same pack assumptions. For example, a case containing 12 units at £9.60 has an 80p unit cost before any applicable tax treatment. Confirm the actual supplier terms rather than reusing this example as a shop price.

03

Change the product and inspect its ticket

In the sample shop, choose a product, change its price, save it and open the shelf-ticket workflow. Check the displayed product name, barcode and selling price. Real printing depends on commissioned hardware; the hosted demonstration cannot establish physical output.

04

Finish the shelf change on the shop floor

Agree who replaces old labels and when. Scan a representative product at the till and compare it with the new shelf label. Record exceptions and resolve duplicate barcodes before staff depend on the new price file.
